The Somerset 100 - Sunday 21st May 2023

Sweet Tea Rooms, Blakeway, Nr. Wedmore, Somerset BS28 4UE

Sign on and parking opens from about 7.30am and easy staggered group starts from 8.30am onwards... so relax, enjoy a coffee and then ride when you're ready and comfortable.

Our annual ride has become very well known and enjoys a full field of support every year. We keep costs, rider numbers and entry fees down, to organise the sort of event EVERYONE can enjoy, feel they can manage and be part of the overall event atmosphere. But we absolutely DO NOT RUN TIMING CHIPS which is why we think this ride is so enjoyable, your time really doesn't matter!

Choice of 3 waymarked route options - 58k (33m), 107k (66m) or the original 164k (101m) 'Century'.

You will also be given a hard copy for your jersey pocket of the routes, broom wagon details and a rider number to attach to your bike on the morning at 'Sign On'. We take a minimum of three days to physically put up our own directional signs along the entire route at junctions or where a decision needs to be made, so you are well covered along the way and a small map for your pocket too.

You are free to ride ANY further distance on the day, but please enter the distance that you intend to ride to help us make provisions for feed stops on the Medium 100k and Century 100mile routes. This helps us have an idea where on the route you might be.

Easy riding, setting off with everyone else, very quiet route to an easy split, a very quiet short little hill followed by a very scenic return ride across the levels - ideal if you are not a regular cyclist or may have a keener cyclist out on a longer distance and you want to ride while they go further afield. You are free to ride ANY further distance on the day, but please enter the distance that you intend to ride to help us make provisions for feed stops if you are on the 100k or 100mile route and helps us have an idea where on the route you might be.
No feed or water station is provided for the short 33mile route.

164k (101miles) - 'The 100mile Century' OPEN FOR ENTRY via British Cycling (Membership IS NOT required)

The first 60miles are relatively easy terrain, first feed stop is in Long Load at 67k - after that you will reach a split with options to continue on the 164k (100mile) or head back home on the 100k (66mile) route across the levels. From this split the  100mile route will take you steadily up to the second feed stop at 106k after which you will then make your way to the highest point of the Mendips, without any ridiculous or long 'macho' gradients. From there you will have a long recovery decent into Wells and return across the levels. You are free to ride ANY distance on the day, but please enter the distance you intend to ride to help us make provisions for feed stops and also help us know roughly where you may be on the road.
