The Somerset 100 - 2019
(now full and closed for entry)

Sunday 19th May 2019. 8am for 8.30am starts.

Sweet Tea Rooms, Blakeway, Nr. Wedmore, Somerset BS28 4UE

Our annual ride has become very well known and enjoys a full field of support every year. We keep costs, rider numbers and entry fees down. We like to organise the sort of event EVERYONE can enjoy, feel they can manage and be part of the overall event atmosphere.

You will be given a hard copy of the map below and rider number at 'Sign On'. We take three days to physically sign up the entire route at junctions or where a decision needs to be made, so you are well covered along the way.

But we absolutely DO NOT RUN TIMING CHIPS which is why we think this ride is so enjoyable, your time doesn't matter! With three distance choices that give everyone a chance to ride and be involved:

58k Short Ride (33 miles) FULL & CLOSED FOR ENTRY

Easy riding, setting off with everyone else, very quiet route to an easy split route, short little hill and a very scenic return ride across the levels - ideal if you are not a regular cyclist or have a keener cyclist out on a longer distance and you want to ride while they go further afield. You are free to ride ANY further distance on the day, but please enter the distance that you intend to ride to help us make provisions for feed stops if you are on the 100k or 100mile route and helps us have an idea where on the route you might be.
No feed or water station is provided for the short 33mile route.

107k Medium Ride (66 miles) FULL & CLOSED FOR ENTRY

Nice tempo/social terrain, no really steep gradients. First feed stop is in Long Load at 67k- after that you will reach a split with options to continue right on the 100mile or head back home on the 100k route via Butleigh across the levels. You are free to ride ANY distance on the day, but please enter the distance you intend to ride to help us make provisions for feed stops and also help us know roughly where you may be on the road.

164k 'Century Ride' (101miles) FULL & CLOSED FOR ENTRY

The first 60miles are relatively easy terrain, first feed stop is in Long Load at 67k - after that you will reach a split with options to continue on the 100mile or head back home on the 100k route across the levels. The 100mile route will take you steadily up to the second feed stop at 106k after which you will then make your way to the highest point of the Mendips but without any ridiculous or long 'macho' gradients. From there you will have a long recovery decent into Wells and return across the levels. You are free to ride ANY distance on the day, but please enter the distance you intend to ride to help us make provisions for feed stops and also help us know roughly where you may be on the road.
